  1. Definition of Map Terms

    Large Incident: A wildfire of 100 acres or more occuring in timber, or a wildfire of 300 acres or more occuring in grass/sage.
    Wildland Fire: Any nonstructure fire, other than prescribed fire, that occurs in the wildland.
    Wildland Fire – IMT1: Wildland fire; Type 1 Incident Management Team Assigned.
    Wildland Fire – IMT2: Wildland fire; Type 2 Incident Management Team Assigned.
    Wildland Fire – Other: Wildland fire; Other Incident Management Team Assigned besides a Type 1 or Type 2 team (e.g. Type 3).

  2. U. S. Forest Service officials indicate that a lightning strike has resulted in a 15 to 20-acre wildfire burning northwest of Sedona.

    Smoke is not visible in the Sedona area as of this hour. Those with respiratory illnesses should monitor air quality and stay indoors if necessary.

    As of today, approximately 80 firefighters and support crews are battling the fire including tankers and helicopters.

    Fire spread has been controlled and no homes are threatened at this time. Firefighters are trying to keep the fire out of Loy Canyon – be advised and do not enter this canyon area.

    Temporary road, trail and access area closures are in place. Signs are posted and police and fire service patrols are in the area.This area is remote and not heavily trafficked or traversed.

  3. This is an informational release on behalf of the Prescott, Arizona, Doce Fire Incident Management Team to communities adjacent to the Doce Fire. Please share this information with neighbors and others concerned about current fire conditions as it may alleviate worry regarding an increase in fire activity around Granite Mountain.

    Area residents will also be notified via 911 callback.

    The Incident Management Team and Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office truly appreciates the cooperation of all those affected by the evacuation as the firefighters continue to make progress.

    “For the communities of Granite Park Ranch, Levi Estates and surrounding areas North of Pioneer Parkway and West of Williamson Valley Road this is NOT an evacuation order and is for Information ONLY. The Incident Management Team is planning “burn-out” operations throughout the day and into the night. These will take place West of Granite Park Ranch to create a “buffer zone” between the residential areas and the fire line. Further information will follow as necessary.”

  4. The Yavapai Superior Court and Juvenile Probation Department have opened their doors to firefighters working the Doce Fire in Prescott.

    An unused/unoccupied portion of the local juvenile detention center is serving as a respite center for firefighters.

    Firefighters have been invited into the facility by the local court community to sleep and shower between shifts. Juveniles currently being housed at the facility have also made cards and cookies to thank the firefighters for their work.

    During times of disaster, everyone in the community looks for ways to help. Kids who have found themselves in trouble are no different.

    Local court and probation staff are happy to be able to help the community in this way, at this time.

    Fire Start Date: Tuesday, June 18, 2013

    Location: 7 miles northwest of Prescott: burning in Granite Mountain Wilderness

    Size: 6,732 acres

    Percent Contained: 15%

    Cause: Human, under investigation.

    Number of Resources: 781 personnel including: 21 hand crews, 34 engines, 5 water tenders, 2 dozer, and 6 helicopters

    Injuries to Date: 1 (minor eye abrasion)

    Estimated Cost to Date: $3,391,708 primarily due to increase in aviation use today

    General Announcements:

    The incident management team will host a community meeting at Prescott High School Auditorium “Ruth Street Theater” on Sunday June 23rd. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.

    A reminder that no subdivisions east of Williamson Valley Road have been evacuated, but all remain on notice for potential evacuation.

    Weather: Last night was calm with light humidity recovery. Today will bring hot temps with very low humidity levels and wind out of the south west.

    Today’s Activities: Crews and equipment will continue to construct, improve, and strengthen the line around the fire. In the North West area of the fire, crews will evaluate placement of the line. Monitoring of the fire will take place in some of the less active areas around the southern part of the fire.

    Evacuations:

    There have been no changes in the number neighborhoods that have been evacuated. The following neighborhoods and areas are currently still under evacuation: Granite Basin Homes, Black Jack, Camp Anytown, Sundown Acres, Cielo Grande, Old Stage Acres, Mint Creek Wash north to Cielo Grande (Dome Road), and American Ranch remain evacuated. Neighborhoods in the Williamson Valley corridor are on notice for potential evacuation.

    Road Closures:

    Williamson Valley Road east of the fire between Pioneer Parkway and Outer Loop Road is open to residents only.

    Fire Closure Update: The entire area of the Doce Fire is closed to public access, including the Doce (Dosie) Pit road off Iron Springs Road. The closure area can be viewed at the Prescott National Forest webpage at: http://www.fs.usda.gov/prescott

    Individuals who may have seen suspicious activity related to the Doce Fire are asked to contact Forest Service Law Enforcement and Investigations at (928) 527-3508 or 3509.
