Three Citywide Permits Available for Sedona Residents

Sedona AZ–The City of Sedona has made available three Citywide Right-of-Way permits. These permits are the first permits issued under a unique City process for permitting certain types of work within City right-of-way. This process allows City residents to proceed with work by completing and complying with the terms of a permit available on the City website. There is no need to come to the City offices to obtain or submit Citywide permits. The no-cost permits are available at www.sedonaaz.gov under Your Government, Department, Public Works.

  1. A Citywide permit allows a person or his agent  to proceed with maintenance work within the right-of-way that is adjacent  or within their property or place of residence. The citywide permits are Citywide Mailbox Permit; Allows for the installation of mailboxes within the City right-of-way as defined in the permit, Articles 7-11 and 7-15 of the City Code.
  2. Citywide Ditch Maintenance Permit: Allows for the maintenance of existing drainage ditches within the City right-of-way and as defined in the permit and Article 7-15 of the City Code. Maintenance is limited to and requires removal of weeds/plants and trash from the right-of-way and blockage from culverts.
  3. Citywide Driveway Maintenance Permit: Allows for the maintenance of existing driveways within the City right-of-way as defined in the permit and Article 7-15 of the City Code. A resident may rake and level out their driveway, repair or fill in any potholes or ruts and may import or export gravel or ABC (Aggregate Base Course) material, to match existing, as long as the grade elevation is not changed. A resident may maintain their visibility triangles for sight distance on the frontage of their property within the side property lines, as long as all the material is hauled away. All materials shall be stored on the property during the maintenance work at no time
    shall materials or trimmings be stored on City rights-of-way.

The property owner will be responsible for giving a 48-hour notice to the City prior to work commencing and scheduling a final inspection. The permits must be printed out and posted on the property during the maintence work.  City personnel shall have access to permits at all times until finaled. For any other work, on City rights-of-way, City approval is required through the use of a Right-of-Way Permit. A resident will need a right-of-way permit for any activity that disrupts traffic, restricts access or modifies any infrastructure within the right-of-way.
