Three Arrested in Rimrock on Multiple Charges

rimrock hanson 2Sedona AZ (June 30, 2014) – On June 19, 2014, at approximately 11:30 PM, YCSO deputies were dispatched to the burglary of a home in the 4800 block of Cedar Drive, Rimrock. The victims indicated numerous items including a gun safe, television, laptop, generator and an air compressor were stolen earlier in the evening. Additionally, the gun safe contained two firearms, gold and silver coins, and many other collectibles.

The investigation continued throughout the night as deputies developed possible suspect(s) leads. The information led to a home on Kimberley Way, Rimrock, where deputies located physical evidence from the burglary and the victim’s gun safe, forced open, lying in an adjacent vacant lot.

Deputies contacted detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau who assisted by obtaining a search warrant. Just prior to serving the warrant, YCSO deputies stopped a vehicle around 2:00 in the morning that was associated with the Kimberley Way property. Its driver was 31-year-old Kelly Bieber of Rimrock and she was traveling with passenger 26-year-old JC McPike from Dewey, Arizona. McPike was found to have a coin stolen from the victim’s home in his pocket and was in possession of a handgun. Numerous drug paraphernalia items, including syringes, were found in the car and associated with McPike.

At Bieber’s home on Kimberley Way, several stolen items were recovered including two firearms from the gun safe, a generator, and air compressor. Additionally, deputies located drug paraphernalia and a usable quantity of methamphetamine in Bieber’s bathroom.

McPike was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Prohibited Firearms Possession, and Possession of Deadly Weapon during a Felony. He remains in-custody on a $10,000 bond. Investigation into his connection with the burglary is ongoing.

Bieber was also booked and her charges include Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia x6, Trafficking in Stolen Property, and Theft. She remains in custody on a $7500 bond.

rimrock hansonIn a development from the June 19 Rimrock burglary case above, perseverance by YCSO deputies lead to the recovery of additional stolen property. On June 25, around 10:30 in the evening, 19-year-old Austin Hanson was arrested at a home in the 5600 block of Joann Drive, Rimrock.

An investigation by detectives directly linked Hanson to the burglary on Cedar Drive in Rimrock. Hanson was also charged with the theft of a handgun from a separate incident on June 21, 2014.

A man, later identified as Hanson, was present during a yard sale in the 3000 block of East Beaver Creek Road in Rimrock. Hanson was interested in a handgun for sale but indicated he could not afford it. He left and returned later in the day to check out the handgun again. After expressing an interest in purchasing the firearm, he was allowed to examine it and, with the gun in his possession, ran to a waiting tan colored GMC SUV driven by a female and fled.

The gun’s owner provided a detailed description of the vehicle and Hanson was eventually located Wednesday night in Rimrock.

Hanson has been booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including Burglary, Theft, and Trafficking Stolen Property. He remains in-custody on a $3000 bond.

The investigation remains active and more arrests are likely.
