The Gift of Rita

Sedona, AZ — By Tommy Acosta…

Where’s the snow!!! Haven’t much to say save Merry Christmas and thank you all for the gift of your support and readership through our first year of the paper’s existence.

It’s been quite a ride and it was my extreme pleasure to print the work of some of Sedona’s finest writers.

I promise a lot more of the same over the coming year and look very forward to really cranking up the volume of our political coverage.

If there is one person to whom we must all give kudos for the paper being here, it is to our publisher Rita Livingston.

In my life as a journalist I never met such a strong and determined individual. Her passion for truth and justice cannot be matched. Neither can her tenacity and grace-under-fire.

She has given and continues to give everything she has to the Sedona-Verde Valley Times.

I am humbled by her incredible energy and will to keep going regardless of the odds.

She is a true champion worthy of admiration and respect.

Just being out in public with her is an adventure and opportunity to meet so many of Sedona’s luminaries and special-gifted people.

No matter where we go there is always someone who knows her and recognizes the value she is to our community.

She is my inspiration and conscience and she never lets me forget my personal responsibility to do good in the world; and right as many wrongs as I can in this lifetime.

I raise a cup to you Rita Livingston, as we all should.

She is our light in these dark times. She gave us the gift of our newspaper, a gift we can all cherish and watch grow.

Thank you Rita, for all you have done.

Merry Christmas!

Spunk and perseverance was the stuffing of the Rita we knew. She snowballed and she rolled and usually got her way, and never was she bored or boring. A well lived life.

    Nobody noticed Acosta articles
Before Sedona eye, go Rita babe, you were best without him!
