Supreme Court Rules Against Clean Elections

Sedona AZ (June 27, 2011) The Arizona Clean Elections Executive Director, Todd Lang, released a statement today after notification that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Arizona matching funds as follows:

U.S. Supreme Court Rules Against Matching Funds

We are disappointed with today’s ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court although not surprised because the court barred matching funds for the 2010 election cycle.

This is NOT the end of Clean Elections.

Today’s ruling impacts only the matching funds provision of the act. The system of publicly-funded elections approved by Arizona voters remains in place. We will now move forward and continue to fund Arizonans who would like to run for public office.
