Sedona AZ (March 11, 2010) – Prior to the start of construction of road improvements to the Arizona SR 179 corridor, the Sedona City Council directed Community Development staff to allow additional temporary signage for businesses. The Council felt that allowing additional signage opportunities for businesses would help offset and soften the impact of the road construction.  As a result, many businesses implemented this signage opportunity.

As we are nearing completion of the AZ SR 179 construction project, the temporary sign allowance and the relaxation of the City’s Sign Code requirements will be coming to an end in the near future.

The City provided a “heads up” to AZ SR 179 businesses regarding this issue last August.

We now are requesting that all business signage be brought into compliance with the Sign Code no later than May 1, 2010. City staff will begin conducting follow up inspections on May 10, 2010.

Please feel free to contact Jim Windham or John Egan in the Community Development Department at 928-282-1154 if you have any questions or need information on Sign Code requirements.
