Grace and Grit, a reading by Ken Wilber about love and death

Sedona AZ (June 13, 2013)Integral Sedona is presenting a videographed reading of philosopher Ken Wilber’s Grace and Grit, Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Drive, west Sedona from 10:00 a.m. until Noon. The public is invited to this free event.

Integral Sedona is a group that meets weekly at the Sedona library to discuss human development, states of consciousness, and integral life practices that help further personal and collective growth, discussions grounded in the Integral Theory of Ken Wilber.

Wilber’s books are available at the public library. Grace and Grit is Wilber’s book about love and death.

Here is an introduction to Saturday’s reading:

“Sooner or later, someone you love deeply, will die. Sometimes there is a diagnosis; an illness that will be the cause of their death, unless a cure is found.  Sometimes a remedy isn’t found, but every feasible procedure is thoughtfully considered, and tried. In the process, you will fathom hell, and you will soar angelic.

In the long night sea voyage you undertake, the core of your being will be exposed, as is a spec of dust brilliantly lighted up in a black vacuum, by the brilliance of the sun. Though there be death, there is healing so vast, joyous, and awesome full that what has always been, is now and forever realized.”

Like Wilber, we feel the enormous gratitude from intuitively knowing, the person you deeply love, took life, for you. Grace and Grit is about Ken and his wife who were together for five years, nearly all five shadowed by their diagnosis of cancer.

Who can measure any life, sandwiching as life does between two other ineffable mysteries?

Five days or months, five years or fifty, who can measure life with time?

You will be inspired by Ken’s reading of Grace and Grit, and you will cry. You will cry tears flowing from seldom touched parts of you. You will discover hidden springs in you.

You will be surprised and heartened, and you will find food and courage for your own journey.

A journey we all take.

A unique journey some have already taken, more than once.

A journey from which, as the mind ever more silent on it, opens the heart to a greater love.

The author of nineteen books of philosophy and psychology, Ken Wilber is a pioneering thinker who has developed an integral ‘theory of everything‘ that embraces the truths of both Eastern spirituality and Western science. Yet while he is best known for his scholarly research into the world’s contemplative traditions, Wilber is also an accomplished spiritual practitioner and mystic in his own right.

Wilber is one of the most widely read and influential American philosophers of our time, credited with creating a genuine world philosophy.

For many Wilber is the Einstein of Consciousness. Visit Integrallife.com for more information.
