Just a quick note of good news to all of you on my pesticide issues mailing list. The dual layer weed barrier that I recommended is being installed in the Hwy 179 medians within the Sedona city limits. I have taken a couple of trips down the road to see if they were really doing it, and sure enough, you can see the black plastic covered by geotextile being installed under the rock mulch.

This should make chemical control unnecessary, since the only place weeds should grow is at the edges of the barrier by the curb, which should be manageable with a line trimmer or other manual methods.
