You may be aware of my recent efforts with the Red Rock Road Enhancement Maintenance District (RRREMD) Board to conduct three small weed barrier pilot projects on the landscaped portion of SR 179 in the VOC (see http://paulgazda.com for more info).

Installing the special dual layer barrier that I have proposed can reduce maintenance costs, herbicide use and potable water irrigation in the RRREMD landscape. I see these small pilot projects as the best way to answer questions about installation, effectiveness and cost before deciding whether to proceed with weed barrier installation throughout the RRREMD.

At the July 21 Board meeting, my colleagues on the Board did not second my motion to proceed with the pilot projects, so it died without a vote. That is why I am reaching out to you.

I don’t believe there will be any progress toward a RRREMD weed barrier unless the people speak loud and clear in favor of it.

If you would like to see the pilot projects move ahead, please urge the Board to do so in the public comment period of the next RRREMD Board meeting on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Village of Oak Creek Community Center, 690 Bell Rock Boulevard, Sedona AZ 86351. The meeting room is just inside the central doors facing Bell Rock Blvd.

Agenda is at http://www.improvementdistrictservices.com/images/10-13-2015_RedRockAgenda.pdf .

If you are not able to attend the meeting, please consider sending a brief, respectful email to the RRREMD Board asking that we proceed with the pilot projects.

Emails should be sent to jbartos@idsadmin.com . Put “To all RRREMD Board Directors” in the subject line and cc or bcc to paul@paulgazda.com.

Send by Thursday, October 8, 2015, if possible (or as soon as possible) so it will have time to be distributed to the Board before the (Oct 13) meeting.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact me. Thank you very much!

Paul Gazda
Director, Red Rock Road Enhancement Maintenance District Board

  1. Will you find the time to send this important email or two or more? Thanks it’s for the good of all of us here. I’m concerned and know that you are as well so let’s do this easy task to make our community look better.

  2. Thank You says:

Some of those board members were appointed and need to be replaced before this board becomes out of control.

  3. Ron says:

    what’s up with this now

  4. Good work, Paul. You did all you could.

Shame on the other board members.

The behavior of the RRREMD board members at the October meeting was clearly bullying. A resolution, that seemed to be about forcing Paul Gazda to shut up, was not available for the public to read and no one on the board could account for where or how the resolution appeared on the agenda. The emails from community members were only made available when Paul asked about them. And then it was a gesture of tossing pages on the table. Shameful.

  5. Doug VOC says:

More than shameful – batch of spineless twits. keep at it Paul –
No one pays attention but it’s here for the future infinitum.
