Sedona Police Bicycle Ambassador Program

sedona police departmentSedona AZ (March 28, 2010) – The Sedona Police Department is proud to announce the bicycle and bicycle uniforms used by Officers Jim Pott and Dorrie Cronk in the successful Uptown Ambassador Program have been made possible by partial funding provided by the Sedona Community Foundation.

A Sedona Community Foundation 2009 grant award of $2,502 provided one new replacement police bike and bicycle uniforms for two officers to use in their duties as Uptown Ambassadors and daily patrol. The police presence in uptown Sedona has brought positive results to the merchants, residents and tourists, providing information and immediate service to those in need.

Using bicycles in uptown send a positive “think green” message to our citizens and visitors, and allows quick access through traffic to make contact where needed with merchants and shoppers. The new bike uniforms enhance visibility, safety and comfort to the officers’ on-duty, especially in the extreme weather months.

You can find, meet and greet Officer Dorrie Cronk and Officer Jim Pott while they ride their bikes during special events such as the Sedona International Film Festival, Sedona Marathon in West Sedona, and in uptown during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Holiday Tree Lighting, Moonlight Madness Days, 1st Friday Art Walks, and Day of the American Cowboy.

The two officers will also assist in traffic flow during high volume tourist seasons and holiday weekends including Memorial Day, without adding additional motor vehicles to the mix.
