Sedona Offers Youth Basketball League

The City of Sedona Parks and Recreation is proud to announce the start of another great season of Grasshopper Basketball.  Grasshopper Basketball is a sports league for children in our community in grades 1-7 who wish to learn the sport of basketball.

This league runs for ten weeks with games held every Saturday.  Opening Day will be Saturday, January 15, 2011 in the gymnasium at West Sedona School.  The opening ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Each team and player will be individually introduced to the fans in attendance.  Come support the youth in our community by joining us on Opening Day. The Parks and Recreation Department is accepting volunteers

The City of Sedona Department of Parks and Recreation is actively seeking volunteers to help the department throughout the year by donating a small amount of personal time at City events.  Desired applicants should enjoy Sedona’s parks and open spaces, enjoy working with people who share a love of Sedona, and want to share a sense of community. Volunteers need only contribute just a few hours a year in order to become a City volunteer and make a huge contribution to Sedona’s parks and recreation programs.

By volunteering a few hours at some of the City’s most successful and fun events (Breakfast with Santa, Celebration of Spring, A Dog’s Day Out in the Park, Pumpkin Splash, etc.), you can not only experience the sheer joy of the events, but also play an important part of making that event successful. The amount of time donated is strictly up to the volunteer.

For more information, contact the Sedona Department of Parks and Recreation at 282-7098 or pick up an application at the City’s Human Resources office located at 102 Roadrunner Drive or on line at www.SedonaAZ.gov under Community and click on Volunteer.
