Sedona Lifelong Learning Needs Facilitators 2011

An unknown author is said to have stated, “The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book.”  At the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) of Sedona & the Verde Valley at Yavapai College, we have a team of volunteer facilitators that share their time, passions, dreams, and life lessons from the heart.  We invite you to join this unique group of individuals for a learning experience that will transform you as much at it transforms the members.

OLLI of Sedona & the Verde Valley is a dynamic organization within Yavapai College created to meet the needs of intellectually active mature adults.  What makes OLLI a unique learning experience is that there is no pressure of tests, grades, or papers.  It is a warm gathering of people who are endlessly curious and love to learn.

Is there a particular topic or craft that you would enjoy sharing with mature, inquisitive, and dynamic adults?  If this peaks your interest, OLLI invites you to be a facilitator for the Winter Session. OLLI is fortunate to have a dedicated team of volunteer facilitators from all walks of life that lead trips, classes, workshops, garden and bird watching tours, hikes, adventures in social networking and related technology, culinary classes, and much more.

From astronomy to astrology, from politics to Wabi Sabi, from belly dancing to chair yoga, there is a class or workshop to meet the curiosity of everyone.

You do not have to be a retired professor from a university to facilitate a class.  If you feel that you have valuable life experience, have researched a topic well in your life, are a professional that might have valuable information for mature adults, or have a passion for a craft or hobby, you can be an OLLI facilitator!

There is no greater reward than to share what you love with others.  OLLI students come to class because they genuinely want to learn and meet new people.

OLLI is accepting facilitator proposals until September 27 for the Winter Semester, which begins January 18 and ends March 11.

To learn more about OLLI, please feel free to join us at our meet and greet events at the Sedona and Cottonwood Libraries.  OLLI will be at the Sedona Public Library through September 4 and will have Fall catalogs available for interested parties to review and take home.

OLLI will be at the Cottonwood Library September 7-9 and October 4-9.

The public is welcome and invited to OLLI’s Open House and Registration Event on September 10 from 1 pm-4 pm.  It will be held at the Yavapai College, Sedona Campus, 4215 Arts Village Drive, Sedona.

For more information and to request a facilitator proposal form, please call 928-649-4275.
