Sedona Eye on Yavapai

Sedona AZ (November 15, 2011) – The Yavapai County Fleet Management Department provides vehicles, equipment, and services to the officials and employees of the County so that they may, in turn, provide services that promote health, safety, well-being, and quality of life to the residents of Yavapai County.

Fleet Management is an internal services department that charges its customers based on a cost per mile for repairs, maintenance, fuel, and replacement of each vehicle in the fleet. The fleet consists of approximately 500 vehicles traveling 6 million miles annually. These vehicles are maintained by six qualified mechanics and are supported by a support staff of four, shop supervisor, account clerk, administrative assistant, and a Fleet Director.

Fleet Management provides services for the majority of county vehicles and equipment. Services include the acquisition, upfit, maintenance, repair, modification, and disposal of vehicles and other related equipment. Additionally, the department operates a motor pool, which has ownership and maintenance responsibility for approximately 50 automobiles, vans, pick-up trucks, and various specialty vehicles assigned to county departments.

Administrative loaners are available at both fleet shops and at the two main county buildings located in Prescott and Cottonwood. If a loaner is needed at other county buildings, support staff will deliver and pick up the loaner. The support staff will also perform the same service when an assigned vehicle is due for preventative maintenance. This service enables employees to work without interruption during scheduled preventative maintenance.

Improved customer satisfaction will ensure an increased customer base for the department that will support the lowest possible unit cost distribution to the county operational departments.

Vehicle availability is critical to all county departments in order for them to deliver services to their clients. It is therefore critical that Fleet Management complete all vehicle maintenance and repairs as quickly as possible but without sacrificing quality or safety. Additionally, timely vehicle maintenance repairs turnaround will help to improve overall customer satisfaction.
