The Department of Parks and Recreation is offering two unique and creative workshops on faux painting. During these hands-on classes, Instructor Linda Coffman will guide you through the beginning skills that will allow you to create your own mouth-dropping painted walls. During the Classic, Tuscan, Metallics workshop, participants learn a faster, easier way to use paint to replicate Old World, stonelike walls, and classic looks for a traditional theme.

Learn how to add “bling” from metallics. During the second workshop, Suede, Rustic, Modern, participants are taught an easier, faster way to achieve a soft blend of colors on your wall without the mess of ragging. By using a special wool roller and glaze students can turn walls into leather. Learn how metallic, stripes and “dry brushing” can change ordinary looks to GREAT. Bring a paint shirt and don’t miss out on the experience Linda has to share. For more information on this instructor and to see pictures of Linda’s creations, take a look at www.twistonwalls.com.

AquaZumba and Water Aerobics Moves Indoors for the Winter

The City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department has moved its water aerobics program indoors for the winter. Ongoing for several years, this year round program is available to adults of most physical fitness levels who are interested in adding variety to their work-out routines. Water aerobics is a leader in low impact aerobic exercise, allowing the participant to work at their own pace while toning muscles, working range of motion and getting their heart rate moving. New this winter, we have added AquaZumba to our weekly schedule.

Beginning November 2, 2011 participants can enjoy water aerobics and AquaZumba Monday through Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the Villas of Sedona indoor swimming pool, 120 Kaloff Place in Sedona. It’s conveniently located for the Sedona community to drive to and attend a great class.

The class fee is $5 per class, or for your convenience, we offer discounted punch passes. Save 20% by purchasing an $80 pass good for 20-visits, or a $40 pass good for 10-visits. Passes do not expire until the punches have been used up. For more information, visit  www.SedonaAz.gov/Parks.
