Sedona AZ (May 8, 2015) – The City of Sedona Parks and Recreation is offering Dog Training Classes and Seminars. Sign up now!

Dog owners get ready for Sedona Parks and Recreation dog programs this spring. Join instructor Starr Ladehoff, CPDT-KA, and Tom Gross on fun classes with your pet beginning Sunday, May 24, 2015.

Choose from two Sunday class options, Good Manners Class and Canine Good Citizen Course. The Good Manners Class will last four weeks and the Canine Good Citizen for five. Both classes will be taught at Posse Grounds Park, 525 Posse Ground Road, west Sedona.

The Good Manners Class will teach the most important behaviors for a well-mannered dog: loose leash walking and heeling, recall (come), stay, and polite greetings. It is also a great opportunity for dogs to learn manners by overcoming distractions. The Canine Good Citizen Course prepares dog/handler teams at an accelerated pace for the Canine Good Citizen Evaluation. The evaluation skills will be taught and practiced with the examination to follow the last class by one to two weeks. Evaluation appointments must be scheduled with the instructor.

  1. There are dog training classes in most towns. Check it out.

  2. Comment made by John Martinez during Summary of Current Events (city council meeting 5/12) relating to Good Citizen Course:

“Dogs to be trained to be good citizens – I know a few people that probably should take that.”

No wonder that during CVS discussion Mark DiNunzio made reference to some Sedona residents that feel council chambers has a hostile environment.
