Sedona City Attorney Opposes Vote on 89A

Sedona AZ (March 21, 2011) – The following is a letter to the SedonaEye.com editor:

The city of Sedona continues their best effort at shutting down the voice and will of the people to no avail. After a lengthy testimony Judge declines to rule on legal merits of our case which does not deter us or the will of the people.

The residents of Sedona have come out in unprecedented numbers and will deliver a HISTORIC record number of petition signatures which will verify and demand their right to vote on the ownership of 89A!

“I’m so very disappointed that the City took a stance that absolutely attempts to deny the citizens of our community the opportunity for another two weeks to sign the Referendum petitions.  If they are so sure of their action being the correct action – what’s another two weeks?” asked Jon Paladini, Attorney for “Let the People Vote on 89A”.

While the Judge chose not to make a decision today on the correct filing date – the registered voters of Sedona, who have signed petitions, have.  The response, to this issue, and the number of Referendum signatures received, to date,  is overwhelming.  So, we go with the City filing date.  It is my firm belief that the will of the people does allow “Let The People Vote on 89A” to become a reality.  So very proud of this community and now we move forward to the vote.

Join us at City Hall Courtyard for a rally on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 3:00 as we submit our petitions at 3:30 PM.

well let’s see what happens on wednesday/it will be interesting but i hear that signatures will be challenged to make sure no one signed twice and that they actually live in the voting area/that’s fair after all so everything is on the up and up

Of course it will be properly processed which will be a refreshing change from the four members of the Sedona City Council who based their decision on the 115 people who participated in the poll of the Democrats of the Red Rocks. We, the legitimate residents within the City Limits of Sedona, have no way of knowing where those 115 people, whom the slim majority of the City Council support, even reside. Such a deal. But, if they don’t live in City Limits they won’t be paying for future maintenance of that route.

Who keeps those petition names adn what is done with them after? Thanks for any information that you can give.
