The position of Building Inspector performs highly skilled, technical inspections of both simple and complex building construction and improvements within the City on the basis of approved plans and permit conditions.
This position ensures compliance with the approved plans, specifications, and adopted building codes; provides technical and administrative assistance to the Chief Building Inspector relative to assigned area of responsibility; may be assigned to plan review and/or customer service counter as needed.
Additionally, the building inspector coordinates project inspections and approvals with other departments and outside agencies having project jurisdiction throughout the course of construction and prior to final project approval and certificate of occupancy.
