Republican Women of Prescott host Ward Connerly

Ward Connerly will be speaking at the Republican Women of Prescott (RWOP) luncheon on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 11:30am at the Prescott Resort. The price to attend is $15 and includes lunch. Anyone interested in attending can RSVP by August 26 to 928-778-0235 or email tyree200@msn.com.

Ward Connerly is founder and president of the American Civil Rights Institute – a national, nonprofit organization aimed at educating Americans about the need to move beyond race, specifically, racial and gender preferences. Mr. Connerly has gained national recognition as an outspoken advocate of equal opportunity for all Americans, regardless of race, sex, or ethnic background.

“We are thrilled to be having such a well-known author and patriot to be our guest speaker in August,” Said Kay Harlan, president of the Republican Women of Prescott. “The public is always invited, and we hope many from our community will attend Mr. Connerly’s timely message on current race relations in the United States, especially since Arizona will be voting on Prop. 107 this November.”

Proposition 107, which Mrs. Harlan refers to, will be on the November 2, 2010 ballot in Arizona. The measure is sponsored by Steve Montenegro, LD 12 (Tolleson), and is the first time Arizona voters will be voting on the issue of affirmative action. A ‘Yes’ vote for the proposed amendment would ban affirmative action programs in the state that are administered by statewide or local units of government, including state agencies, cities, counties and school districts.
Mr. Connerly is author of Creating Equal: My Fight against Race Preferences and his new release Lessons from My Uncle James: Beyond Skin Color to the Content of Our Character. He has received numerous honors recognizing his ability to defend the innate and constitutional freedoms of Americans.

The Republican Women of Prescott was established in 1942 and is sanctioned by the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) based in Washington, DC. The organization promotes all things American, and supports our troops overseas and here at home. RWOP is the largest NFRW club in the state with close to 300 members and is 12th largest in the country.
