Registration Opens for Sedona Book Festival

Registration is open for authors, publishers, organizations and other businesses wanting to exhibit at the second annual Sedona Book Festival Saturday, October 2, from 9 am to 5 pm, on the Sedona campus of Yavapai College.  Co-sponsored by The Well Red Coyote bookstore, Yavapai College, and the Friends of the Sedona Public Library, this year’s festival promises to be even bigger and better than last year’s inaugural event.

According to Joe Neri, festival director and owner of The Well Red Coyote, “Response has been very good so far.  Even though we have increased the number of exhibitor tables by 50%, we expect to be sold out by the middle of August.”

The Sedona Book Festival will spotlight local and regional authors, publishers and other organizations dedicated to celebrating the pleasures of reading and writing.  More than 60 exhibitors will provide attendees with a wide range of books and book-related offerings.  In addition, select authors will be making presentations in a special authors’ room throughout the day.The festival’s Guest of Honor, a local individual who has greatly contributed to the growth and vitality of the Sedona/Verde Valley literary community, will be Gary Every, author, poet, performer and moderator of the Sedona Writing Salon. J. Allen Woodman, chairman of the Creative Writing Department at Northern Arizona University and author of six books of fiction and scores of short stories and essays, will be the keynote speaker. On Friday evening, October 1, there will be a fundraising “Dinner in the Stacks” at the Sedona Public Library, sponsored by the Friends of the Sedona Public Library.  There will also be other community outreach events prior to the festival, including an essay contest for students, an authors-in-schools project and author/writing workshops.  For information, including registration details and forms, go to http://www.sedonabookfestival.com/ or call 282-2284.
