Prescott Police Need Help Solving 2002 Murder Case

Prescott AZ (April 18, 2012) – The Prescott Police Department is resuming the investigation of the brutal murder of 71-year-old Brenton Carpenter. The murder occurred on June 4, 2002 at Carpenter’s home in the Yavapai Hills development in Prescott. The killer has not been caught and the Prescott Police Department is asking for assistance from the community.

Shortly after the investigation ensued, the Prescott Police Department received an unsigned note mailed by an anonymous individual that contained intimate, factual details of the crime and is believed to be credible. It is believed that the person who wrote this note is likely still in the Prescott area, and may be reluctant to come forward for reasons unrelated to this crime.

We are urging this person to come forward so the investigation into this case can proceed and the Police Department can remove a killer from the streets. All possible measures will be taken to protect the anonymity of the witness.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or on the individual who wrote the note, we ask you to please contact the Prescott Police Department at 928-777-1988 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 800-932-3232.
