Prescott Graffiti Suspect Arrested

Prescott AZ (July 5, 2012) – On July 4, 2012 at approximately 10:00 in the evening, a Prescott Arizona police officer caught a Prescott man committing criminal damage to a traffic signal box at the corner of Montezuma and Willis streets. The man was observed tagging graffiti on the side of the traffic box, writing the word “Rise” in black marker.

As the police officer approached the suspect, the suspect ran from the area but was caught a short time later with the permanent marker still in his possession. The man, identified as twenty-three year old Ryan Huff of Prescott, was taken into custody.

The graffiti tag “Rise” has been linked to as many as thirty different acts of criminal damage in the Prescott area, including a local church. Huff admitted that the word “Rise” is his tag, but refused to tell police how many times he tagged different properties or where those tags were done.

Huff was arrested for criminal damage graffiti and is scheduled to appear in court on July 24, 2012.

The Community Service Section of the Prescott Police Department will continue to investigate the criminal damages. Police consider it likely that Huff will face additional charges of criminal damage as the result of that investigation. Anyone with information about this or any other Prescott area case is encouraged to contact the Prescott Police Department.
