Sedona AZ–The City solicited bids for the Posse Grounds Softball Field Lighting Project and a contract in the amount of $124,950 has been awarded to Sellers & Sons Inc. of Avondale, Arizona to install new lights on the existing poles for the two Posse Grounds softball fields.

The City received a Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant in the amount of $93,719 which will pay for most of the contract amount. The new lights will be more energy efficient than the existing lights and more dark sky compliant. The new lights will have the capability to be controlled remotely which will allow city staff to monitor the lights and be aware of any issues regarding the field’s lighting system. The lighting manufacturer will also guarantee the new lighting system and provide “no cost” maintenance and replacement of luminaries for 25-years. The start date for the project is November 29, 2010 with a completion date set for February 1, 2011. Actual construction activity involving replacement of the lighting system should take about one or two weeks and is scheduled for an unspecified date in January.
