Pile Burning Planned in the Prescott Basin

Prescott National Forest locationSedona AZ (May 13, 2015) –– Fire managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District are planning to burn fuel break piles Friday, May 15 through Tuesday, May 19, 2015, pending favorable weather conditions in Prescott, Arizona. Specific days to burn will be determined by current and expected weather patterns allowing fire managers to make every effort to minimize smoke impacts to nearby communities.  

The Ranch Piles – Approximately 19 acres of piles on the east side of Walker Road (T13N, R1W, Sec 6); the piles border The Ranch of Prescott along the forest boundary.   

Thumb Butte Piles – Approximately 40 acres of piles north of Thumb Butte  (T14N, R3W, Sec 25, 26); the piles border the communities of Kingswood and Forest Trails along the forest boundary. 

All prescribed fires activity is dependent on the availability of personnel and equipment, weather, fuels and conditions that minimize smoke impacts as best as possible and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (www.azdeq.gov).
