Crossing Nebraska’s Plains to Washington DC

Nebraska’s Interstate I-80 from the Wyoming border to Lincoln, Nebraska earned a score of 9 out of 10 for highway cleanliness by this reporter. Nebraskans seem to mow their highway medians and shoulders on a regular basis. It is obvious mowing has a positive effect on reducing and collecting highway litter. Nebraska’s Get-R done highway maintenance program works! Nebraska highways are clean and reflect pride in communities throughout the state.

I shared our Folksville USA and Rusty’s Morningstar Ranch story with the folks in Nebraska and the Washington DC folks pictured here.

More stories soon on the Folksville USA road trip stop-over in Washington DC, our great nation’s capital where I chanced upon and swapped stories with many armed forces veterans, our country’s proud defenders. As a Vietnam Vet, I felt honored to be in their company.

We in Folksville USA are very proud of Rusty’s Morningstar Ranch and are pleased to tell their story. Rusty’s MSR is a home for autistic adults and they are located in Cornville, AZ.

Their “Recycle Trash For Cash” program may be worth duplicating in your community.

The Adopt-A-Highway Permittee’s in our area are collecting illegally dumped highway litter from Scenic Highway 89A and Highway 260. This litter is then delivered to Rusty’s MSR by two local tire stores. Rusty’s separates the contents into two categories, trash and recyclables. Rusty’s is using this effort as a fund raising activity. Rusty’s gives the recyclables components to Sedona Recycles.

If you wish to give a donation to Rusty’s for their effort, they may be contacted at www.RMR.org or contact Marla Guerrero, Executive Director (928) 634-4784 of Rusty’s or e-mail her at mguerrero@commspeed.net if you wish to donate. No amount is too small.

Will you help us restore the beauty to America the Beautiful? Please support your local media organizations and businesses that help us all push back against those who “CRAP” up America and all our communities.
