Sedona AZ – The City of Sedona, in response to inquiries related to the advertisement of a series of events labeled “The Gathering 11-11-11” in Sedona for the week leading up to and including November 11, 2011 (11-11-11), issued a public notice today from its Code Enforcement office.
The Sedona Eye is reprinting the City of Sedona response to inquiries here in its entirety:
To date, the City has not authorized or issued any temporary use/special events permit (TUP) for any events related to this event, advertised by promoter Scott Love. Therefore, the City advises individuals to be prudent in purchasing any tickets, signing up as vendors, or donating money on websites promoting this event in Sedona. In order to preserve the public’s health and safety, unauthorized outdoor events to be held within the city limits in violation of the City’s Land Development Code can be enjoined.
The necessary temporary use permits authorizing public outdoor events within the City limits are designed to insure the public’s health and safety. They require that qualifying community-based organizations have established adequate plans and necessary resources to address such concerns as traffic, parking, sanitation, litter, and crowd control.
If you are planning a major community-based event, please contact Code Enforcement at 928-204-7114 for more information on temporary use/special events permits.

Event coordinator Scott Love will give a brief presentation and then take questions, listen to suggestions and comments from the audience. There has been a lot of speculation and interesting conversation as to what The 11.11.11. Gathering is, and what kind of impact it will have on the community. Please come with any questions or concerns that you may have. Please help spread the word of this meeting by inviting friends.

Sedona Community Discussion: The 11.11.11. Gathering~ How to get involved.

With little more than a month to go before The 11.11.11. Gathering the time has come to call on everyone who has expressed an interest in helping to co-create this amazing, ground breaking event. Many are wondering what they can do to help.
We are currently seeking local volunteers, performers, speakers, workshop facilitators and locations who are interested in holding space for one or more special event during the week of the 4th to the 12th. You don’t necessarily have to be in Sedona either. Many of our newest connections have come from the surrounding areas who are excited about the potential to connect with those coming from all over the world to this event.
Starting October 5th, at 6:30 pm, and continuing every Wed. during the month of October, we will be meeting with everyone who is interested in helping to bring this in. It doesn’t matter what your level of interest is, if you have been a part of previous planning meetings. This is it. We have one month to come together as a community and ensure that everything that this even can be, it will be.
Ideas that may help us expand this event:
*Locations to hos activities such as performances and workshops
*Volunteer services
*Transportation solutions
*Community outreach
*Locations outside of Sedona that are available for vending (we have a long list of vendors waiting to connect, this could be an income generator for the right facility)
*Area guides
*Professional services and any thing that you can possibly think of that will help.
Also, if you have an event already scheduled and would like us to share it with the thousands of people in our network… come let us know what you are doing. If you have promotional materials we will accept electronic files to post on our site in the coming weeks.
