Monday Morning Quarterback Yet Again

Sedona AZ (December 8, 2008) – This Christmas is a very special time for our nation as the old administration gives way to make room for the new. I’d like to muse a bit on the gifts left to the world and America by the Bush administration and give appreciation we are coming to the end of a very dark time for all.

Our president leaves office with the American and world economy in shambles. It all happened under his watch. The American Dream has become a nightmare. Homes, jobs, careers have been lost. And it can only get worse. Thank you, Mr. President.

We have been sucked into two wars that can never be won and will never end. Thousands of our young have died. Hundreds of thousands have died in the devastated countries where this war on terror continues with no hope of victory in sight. Billions, trillions of dollars have been spent on bombs and bullets while hunger drives a stake through the heart of America’s poor. Thank you, Mr. President.

The ideals of Freedom, Justice, privacy from government intrusion, our Constitution, have been shattered. There are no more rights. Homeland Security has taken them all. Where are your papers? Thank you, Mr. President.

America’s reputation as a noble nation has been ruined. We are now seen by the world as a country that condones torture and kidnapping, imprisons people with no formal charges and denies court trials to those we label not worthy. Thank you Mr. President.

Under his watch our country was attacked in a manner people still say today could have been stopped had our leadership been on the ball. Twin towers collapse and we were given the excuse the administration needed to launch its profit-motivated wars. Thank you, Mr. President.

I could go on listing the wonderful gifts this administration is leaving us with this holiday season.

There is one thing that we can truly be thankful for. At least he did not start a war with Iran…yet.

Thank you, Mr. President.

And Merry Christmas to you as well.
