Manuel Cruz Earns BiPartisan Support for “ADOPT-A-MINE” Project

Bipartisan coalition of business and community leaders committed to support smart and effective plan to get killer abandoned mines closed.

PHOENIX AZ – Manuel Cruz, candidate for Arizona State Mine Inspector, is proud to announce that the following leaders have endorsed his Adopt-A-Mine proposal to close tens of thousands of dangerous abandoned mines across the state of Arizona: .
Mayor Elaine Scruggs of Glendale
Mayor Ferdinand Shipley of Globe
Mayor Marie Lopez Rogers of Avondale
Phoenix City Councilman Michael Nowakowski
City Councilman Charlie VIerhout
Dee Dee Blase, Somos Republicans
Killer abandoned mines are a central focus of his campaign and Cruz is lining up business people to join the effort. “I’m going to hit the ground running with the Adopt-A-Mine program. I intend to close these killer mines down by the thousands, not by the handful as the incumbent is doing,” said Cruz.
Cruz’s Adopt-A-Mine pledge drive will be asking local businesses to help raise funds to close down killer abandoned mines. “Even though my business is located in an urban area I think it’s important to close these dangerous open mines down,” said Valerie Revering of Blossom Birth and Wellness Center in Phoenix. “Like many people in Arizona, I like to take my family on camping trips all over the state. I don’t even want to think about something happening to one of my kids with those open mines being all over the place. And it ‘s good for tourism if we can assure visitors that they can enjoy the outdoors safely in Arizona.”
Cruz plans to push the Legislature for a tax credit for individuals, organizations, and businesses that participate in the Adopt-A-Mine program. The idea has been met with strong approval by Arizona Democrats and Republicans alike. “Using my expertise as a mining explosives engineer, and with the help of the Arizona community, we can get the abandoned mines shut down quickly, safely, and efficiently.”

    Dear Friends,

When I entered the race for Arizona State Mine Inspector I didn’t know what to expect. I had no idea how many passionate, generous, and wonderful people I would have the privilege to know along the way. My wife Valerie, my mom Sally (whom many of you met on the campaign trail), and the rest of our family deeply appreciate all the help and support we got.

Though we didn’t get the result we wanted, I was proud to carry the message of mine safety to Arizona. I still believe that we must work on keeping our miners safe and close down dangerous abandoned mines. I will not sit on the sidelines, but will continue to be a voice when it comes to the safety of all Arizonans. I wish Joe Hart all the best in his second term and may God Bless all of you.

    Sincerely,

    Manuel Cruz
