Man Found Deceased Outside Wahweap Lodge

wahheapSedona AZ (October 13, 2015) – At 5:20 p.m. on the evening of October 11, 2015, the National Park Service at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area near Page, Arizona, received a report of an unresponsive man in a vehicle parked outside the Wahweap Lodge, Lake Powell.

The man, 56, from Shonto, Arizona, an employee of the Wahweap Lodge Rainbow Room Restaurant, was found by coworkers who spotted his vehicle after becoming concerned he would be late reporting for work.

After attempting to gain his attention, the coworkers realized he was unconscious and called the National Park Service to ask for medical help. Within minutes, NPS Rangers arrived with an ambulance and transported the man to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Deputies from the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office responded and are conducting an active investigation with the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office into the circumstances surrounding the death. At this point there are no indications of foul play.
