How to Hold a Sedona Event

Sedona AZSedona strives “to be a city that welcomes and accommodates all of its visitors and future residents with a spirit of fellowship” as written in the City of Sedona Vision Statement.  To achieve this, the City must be vigilant over the preservation of its natural beauty and live up to the challenge of proper stewardship. With this in mind, it’s important for those wishing to participate in or hold events in Sedona understand City regulations.

Don’t jeopardize your event needlessly. Following these suggestions can help assure a successful event that avoids conflict with most City rules and regulations:

  • If you are planning a major community-based event, a temporary use/special events permit is required. Approval of a temporary use/special events permit requires that the application be submitted at least thirty (30) days prior to the scheduled event. For more information, please contact Code Enforcement at 928-204-7125.
  • Camping is prohibited within the City limits with the exception of permitted campgrounds operated or controlled by private parties or governmental agencies, including but not limited to the US Forest Service.
  • The City’s parks and recreational facilities are intended for the enjoyment and use of residents and visitors alike. Posted rules should be followed for all sites. If an extended period of use is required, please contact the City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department to reserve or rent space at 928-204-7098 or check the website at www.SedonaAZ.gov/parks.   A temporary use permit and/or a county health department permit may be required. Sedona City Hall Parks and Recreation office is located at 102 Roadrunner Drive, Sedona AZ 86336.
  • The City of Sedona has a business license requirement and a business license is required for any business with a tax liability to the city.  Revenue Discovery Systems (RDS) administers the City’s Business License program.  If you need to sign up for a new Sedona business license, please contact the Community Development Department at 928- 282-1154.

got a RRN & it occurred that we’d read almost all the info before & it wasn’t till checked the Calendar & saw familiar headline & realized I’d read some TWO WEEKS before it hit print. Hmm. Got me thinking. If I get the ipad that my kids are bugging me to get, I can read the Eye in the bathroom & best of all not have to scrounge around for pages that go missing in the cat box or bird cage or trash before getting finished. original newspaper thoughts are evolving. one day i may put the parchment down & embrace new tech. for now here’s my email address & let the weaning process begin

Hear, hear Brian. You display a great deal of courage to tell it like it is. Thanks much.
