Facts Keep Getting in the Way of the Story

Grammy Award winning playwright Michael Peach

Sedona AZ (July 14, 2012) – The Sedona Heritage Museum presents Michael Peach in a special performance of his new original show, The Facts Keep Gettin’ in the Way of the Story, a tribute to the Southwest’s “cowboy spirit.” There will be two free performances at 1:30 p.m. and at 3:00 p.m. on July 28, 2012 in celebration of National Day of the Cowboy.

This entertaining and family-friendly show features a mixture of Peach’s original cowboy poetry interwoven with jokes and historically-based stories illustrating humor, heroism and hubris of some of the Southwest’s most colorful characters, both factual and fictional. In addition to favorites like Little Foot Fritz, Temple Houston, and If You Die in Arizona, Peach’s new show will include material from the writings of Arizona State Historian Marshall Trimble.

With a unique ability to combine accurate historic details with a tongue in cheek emphasis on quirky events, Peach, a Grammy award winning playwright, is a longtime favorite of Sedona audiences. The majority of his poems are based on actual events involving historic characters from the territorial period of the West.

Facts Keep Getting in the Way of the Story will also feature the world premiere of Peach’s newest poem entitled Climax Jim which tells the story of Rufus Nephews, one of Arizona’s most notorious – and least dangerous – outlaws.

Informative, entertaining and family appropriate, Peach presents at universities, state and national parks, and historically-oriented audiences. Each month at the Sedona Heritage Museum, Peach presents AZ History & Hi-Jinx, show recognized by the state as an Official Arizona Centennial Event.

The show is about an hour long and appropriate for all ages. It will debut at the Wayside Chapel, 401 North 89A in uptown Sedona. For more information, call the museum at 928-282-7038.
