Coconino County Patrol MapCoconino County Sheriff BadgeSedona AZ (September 2, 2014) – On Thursday, August 21, 2014, at about 10:30 in the morning, Coconino County Arizona Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) received a call reporting discovered multiple improvised explosive devices in a Valle, Arizona, mini storage unit. Deputies learned that the caller had been asked to clean the unit and, while doing so, found what he believed to be the IEDs.

Flagstaff Police Department Explosive Device Response Team responded immediately to the scene. While bomb technicians were in the process of safely disposing of the explosive devices, one of the pipe bombs detonated. Fortunately, no one was injured.

CCSO, with the assistance of the Flagstaff Police Department Explosive Device Response Team, Explosive Device Technicians from Arizona DPS, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, served a search warrant on the mini storage unit. Investigators found numerous explosive items including pipe bombs, improvised explosive devices, shot gun shells with a fuse attached to the primer, and others.

At this point in the investigation, it is known that the adult male responsible for these devices is currently serving a ten year prison sentence in New York State for charges related to unlawful possession of explosive devices and firearms, on an unrelated incident. The investigation of the devices found at the Valle mini storage is still ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.

The suspect’s identity is being withheld pending the continued investigation and filing of official charges.

  1. Seriously, I hope Marc Ringel gets more than the 10 years he’s currently serving in prison in New York….He truly is a Mad Man. Glad that nobody was hurt in Valle as clearly his intent was to hurt someone.
