County Targets Domestic Violence Cases

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Area Commands MapSedona AZ (November 7, 2014)This week, the Arizona Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officers from multiple YCSO law enforcement agencies conducted several arrest warrants checks throughout the county. The warrants involved various charges including assault, child abuse, criminal damage, failure to pay, threatening, failure to obey court order, probation violation, and others. The goal was to hold these individuals accountable for their actions and in turn provide support for the involved domestic violence victims.

October just concluded Domestic Violence Awareness month which served as a reminder that victims of this crime should not be forgotten. In light of this observance, the YCSO Sheriff and Police Chiefs from around the County sitting as members of the Partner’s Against Narcotics Trafficking (PANT) board, became the driving force to organize a warrant sweep targeting domestic violence suspects and defendants.

The effort, co-lead by Yavapai County Sheriff Scott Mascher and Camp Verde Marshall Nancy Gardner with support of the PANT Board, involved officers from the following police departments: Prescott Valley (Chief Bryan Jarrell), Prescott (Chief Jerald Monahan), Cottonwood (Chief Jody Fanning), Clarkdale (Chief Randy Taylor), Sedona (Chief Ray Cota), the Camp Verde Marshall’s Office and YCSO. More than 60 warrants involving 60 different locations in Yavapai County were checked, based on last known addresses.

Two additional suspects were confirmed in-custody at the Department of Corrections in Tucson, and a third is in custody of Immigration and Custom Enforcement in Eloy, AZ.

Patrol officers from the various jurisdictions will continue to check warrants locations and follow-up on any new address information received as a result of this sweep: It is the goal of the task force that each person named in the warrant list be held accountable for their case.
