Bike and Car Accident Under Investigation

Sedona AZ (March 14, 2012) – At approximately 11:15 AM on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported vehicle vs. bicycle collision in the 900 block of Rio Mesa Trail, Cottonwood (Verde Villages). EMS personnel treated the injured bicyclist who was eventually flown to Flagstaff Medical Center due to head trauma and a possible broken arm.

The bicyclist is identified as Michael Moore, 27, from Glendale, Arizona. Moore went into surgery yesterday and remains in intensive care today. An updated condition was not available at the time of this release.

The initial investigation revealed that a 17-year-old female driver entered the east bound lane of Rio Mesa Trail, Cottonwood Arizona, from private property and crossed into the path of a bicycle ridden by Mr. Moore. The vehicle involved in the accident is a 1997 white Saturn sedan.

Members of the YCSO Accident Reconstruction Team were called to the scene to gather information and evidence as part of its investigation to establish cause. Further updates will be forthcoming from the YCSO as known.
