Sedona AZ (November 6, 2013) – On October 23, 2013, around 9:30 in the morning, a YCSO K9 deputy arrested 25-year-old Roy Gunnoe from Oklahoma for Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the commission of a Felony.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s K9 deputy stopped Gunnoe on west Arizona Interstate 40 driving a 2011 silver Jeep for a moving violation and found its registration was expired. Gunnoe, the only occupant of the jeep, provided an Oklahoma driver’s license and explained that he was traveling to Los Angeles, California. He was overly nervous, and during the conversation gave indications that he might be in possession of contraband.
Gunnoe denied a request to check his vehicle so the YCSO deputy deployed his certified K9 to sniff the exterior. After observing a positive alert to the driver’s door area, the deputy found a methamphetamine pipe in the center console, and a 9 mm handgun inside a backpack. Checking a box in the backseat, the deputy located a quantity of hashish, and two bundles of cash totaling around $1500. In the trunk, a suitcase was found to contain an additional $10,000, bringing the total amount to $11,500 in Gunnoe’s possession.
Further investigation linked the cash to drug transactions and the cash was seized pending forfeiture proceedings.
Gunnoe was booked at the Camp Verde Detention and has since been released on a $5000 bond.
