Arizona Chief Justice Appoints Yavapai County Judge

Sedona AZ (February 15, 2012) – The Arizona Superior Court announced the selection of a Judge Pro Tem for the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Pro Tem Warren R. Darrow on February 10, 2012. Ethan A. Wolfinger has been selected as the Judge Pro Tem. Wolfinger was chosen from among seventeen applicants for the position.

Ethan Wolfinger is an Arizona native who grew up in Yavapai County. He has been involved in the Yavapai County legal community since 1980 as a private attorney, Deputy Yavapai County Attorney, Town Attorney, Juvenile Court Commissioner, and part-time Judge Pro Tem. He has extensive experience in civil, criminal, domestic and juvenile law, and substantial experience in all aspects of the law handled by a Superior Court Judge. He is active as a community volunteer.

Presiding Judge David L. Mackey selected the successor for this position after interviewing finalists identified by a Selection Committee, reviewing applicant qualifications, and considering public comment.

When announcing his decision, Judge Mackey stated, “I would like to thank the Members of the Selection Committee, Honorable Michael R. Bluff, Associate Presiding Judge and Selection Committee Chair Pamela Jones, Michael R. Murphy Esquire., David Gordon Esquire., Robert VanWyck Esquire, and Deborah Schaefer, Court Administrator. I also would like to thank all the individuals who provided public comment to me on behalf of Ethan Wolfinger and the other outstanding applicants.”

The newly appointed Judge Pro Tempore will assume the office effective March 5, 2012.
