ADOT To Close Cordes Junction Lanes

Phoenix AZ (April 9, 2012) – Overnight work at I-17 and State Route 69 junction in Cordes Junction is scheduled this week by the Arizona Department of Transportation. Southbound lane restrictions on Arizona I-17 and intermittent stops on State Route 69 during work hours will result. Plan accordingly.

The Arizona Department of Transportation will continue overnight work on the Cordes Junction traffic interchange at the Interstate 17 and State Route 69 junction this week. The right lane of southbound I-17 will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 and Thursday, April 12, 2012 as crews continue to work on a temporary detour along I-17.

In addition to the work on Arizona Interstate 17, crews will also be working on State Route 69 on Wednesday (April 11) that will require a single lane closure as crews work on the barrier along the roadway. Work will be underway from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. with traffic restricted to one lane through the work zone. Crews will direct alternating traffic through the single open lane to guide vehicles through the work area. Minimal delays are expected.

As work continues to reconstruct the Cordes Junction traffic interchange, drivers will be required to follow new road alignments on SR 69 and I-17 in the project work area. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. To stay up-to-date with the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at AZ511.gov or call 5-1-1 and follow the SedonaEye.com for updates.
