  1. Alarmed says:

    The Draft Minutes state “SFD received notice of the Fire Board election cancellation for November, as there were two vacancies and only two candidates.” Manipulation for sure. Both incumbents Tim Ernster and Dave Soto were originally appointed to the Fire Board due to the resignation of two prior Board members. Now they are being appointed once more due to the 2 vacancies/2 candidates scenario. This vicious circle is a slap in the face of the electorate.

    The SFD doesn’t make Board openings known and when and how to apply. So much for transparency….

  2. @Alarmed says:

    If you are not informed about an upcoming election that is your fault not the fire department. Openings for all elections were well posted so I would consider that as transparent as they could get and it’s all according to state statue.

    You should get your facts straight, Ernster and Soto were appointed to fill other peoples terms due to resignations. Since these 2 gentleman were unopposed, after the November elections they will then be considered elected into full term seats.

    @Alarmed

    You must be really paranoid …..Your “alarmed” over everything……

    Obviously you have no clue what your talking about and seem to be delusional..

  4. Matt Shobert says:

    That’s how it works! If you are interested, get involved, pay attention and for God’s sake, quit your “chicken crap” cowardess and nameless blogging!

    This process is completely legal, appropriate and transparent! Alarmed… Just because you are afraid to do things the right way, don’t pass your passive/aggressive, secretive, opinions along! …probably the same fool who has been composing for years!

    Wow Matt you nailed it.

  6. A Suggestion says:

    The highest assessed dollar total on our County property tax bills is from the SFD. So, do 911 emergency calls for the Fire District still go from the Sedona Police Dept to the SFD? No way! They now go from the SPD to the state-of-the-art Cottonwood Public Safety Communications Center and then from Cottonwood to the SFD. Slower response time is what taxpayers are getting from the big-spending Sedona Fire Board.

    WTF? How many residents are going to read the single-spaced SFD Board Meeting Minutes and discover an opening? The Board’s Sept 21st Minutes were 7 pages long. Not to mention that there’s so much crapola going on with our out-of-control City government that there’s no time.

    A suggestion: Instead of re-appointing appointees, the SFD should disclose Fire Board openings in a conspicuous place in the Red Rock News and elsewhere so that citizens could be informed and, perhaps, new candidates attracted.

    All I can say about the Sedona fire district is it has been one of the most abused and over priced unit we have been forced to support. From a wife on the board to make sure her husband got promoted to over a million in overtime when we have a full time fire department. The fire department quickly went above the budget of the school system from it’s beginning and continues to stay there. Don’t know of a more abused system then this one.
