Health Care Reform Amendment Passes

Sedona AZ (March 21, 2010)-The health care amendment to the Senate bill passed, 219-212, in Washington, D.C. today in late breaking news. Every Republican and 34 Democrats voted against the health care reform amendment. The sweeping health care reform package now goes to President Barack Obama for his signature. Passage of this health care amendment is a major victory for President Obama and the Democratic Party and a sweeping change in the United States health care delivery and coverage system.

Following the vote count, Democrats in Congress erupted with chants of “Yes, We Can!” Republicans made a last ditch effort to overturn the vote by calling for a procedural motion to recommit. The procedural motion was granted and a majority voice vote of “No” was upheld by a recorded electronic vote.

President Obama has indicated that he will sign the bill no later than Tuesday, March 23, 2010. It will then become the law of the land.
