Harley McGuire Invites Pals for a Dog’s Day Out

Harley McGuire, Paws Up Star SedonaEye.com Columnist

Sedona AZ (June 28, 2012) –  The City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department and yours truly, Harley McGuire Star Columnist, are inviting all animal lovers and dog owners to support its second annual A Dog’s Day Out in the Park. This pet friendly event is being held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the multi-use field at Posse Grounds Park and it’s free!

Come out and play in the park on a grassy field! Woo Hoo!

Pamper your pooches with fun doggy stations including dog nail painting, dog baths, low cost vaccinations (cash or check only), and free dog licensing (with proof of rabies vaccination). There will be an “off leash” fenced-in area with a kiddie pool for us to play in. Last one in is a CHICKEN! This year the city is providing shade for our moms and dads, and us if we can find a lap!

Harley McGuire pals, Chip and Dale, say “We’ll be chillin’ in the air conditioning while you silly dogs roll around in the grass!” MEOW!

Bring a ball or your favorite toy and have some fun! If you don’t have a dog, the Sedona Humane Society (here’s a Shout Out to my pal Tom) will be on location to introduce my rescued pals to their future moms and dads! Have a heart and open your arms to my buds in need of a good home!

Parks and Recreation will be handing out free doggie bandanas to the first 50 dogs through the gate, so hurry and get there first. Enjoy the green grass and shade, pet friendly exhibitors, and DONUTS will be for sale.  Yum Yum!

Be there for a great day at Posse Grounds Park, 525 Posse Ground Road, west Sedona.

Eat Your Heart Out, Harley McGuire!

I want all dog-friendly owners and well-behaved paws up friends to show up! All breeds are welcome and don’t forget to put us on leashes so we can make friends safely.

For more information, contact Parks and Recreation at 928-282-7098.

See you there and take one of my pals home with you!

And not to overlook my feline reader paws up pals, the Sedona Humane Society needs lots of moms and dads to love them, too. Give Tom a call at the Sedona Humane Society. Tell him Harley at the SedonaEye.com sent ya!

Love,

 Harley McGuire

  1. PS. Forgot to mention that Mom took me there last year and it was really keen! (Hey, Mom, hint hint.)

    Lovingly,

    Harley McGuire

  2. Chip'n Dale says:

Sorry Harley, mom says we cannot go because this time is when we nap, and we are not dogs….Ousted again!

Have fun, we will miss it again this year.

    Hugs Chip’n Dale

  3. Hey Chip’n Dale, will we ever have a chance to meet?

I have a feeling we won’t be joining in on the fun this year. Mom’s sort of discapacitated for the time being. Oh well. Guess we’ll be napping same as you which isn’t so bad because it’s too dang hot.

    Lovingly,
    Harley McGuire

  4. Oh Harley we’re sorry about whatever ails your mommy but for sure plan on next year. Since we won’t see you at the event attached is a photo so if you see us on the street you will recognize us.

Stay cool. Hugs from Chip’n Dale.

(Harley McGuire’s note: See photo of Chip and Dale in the story above…they are the cat’s meow!)

  5. Chip'n Dale says:

We loved our few minutes of fame! Hope this event is a big success.

    Hugs – the boys!

“Eat Your Heart out, Harley McGuire”

    Hi Harley,

Something exciting happened to me today. My mom took me shopping. While she was looking at the chicken on display,(I was hoping she’d drop it on the floor so I could ‘get’ it for her….haha,) she heard a voice call out, “Are you Inoch’s mom?.” My mom turned toward the voice and said, “Yes I am. How do you know?” The woman said, “I’m Harley McGuire’s mom!” Oh my gosh, I thought to myself. My mom couldn’t believe it either.

The two ladies hugged and we were all just so surprised. I, of course, was allowed to shake your mom’s hand and get petted by her, Harley. In fact, I even gave your mom a kiss. Your mom said, “Boy, is Harley going to be jealous.” I couldn’t wait to write and tell you what happened, because I’m sure you detected something was different about your mom.

Well, my mom was jibber-jabbering a lot with your mom, and they both decided to meet at the park one day. Of course, you and I would get to meet and play together. Oh, how’s your jaw doing these days? Hope you’re feeling
better, Harley. Looking forward to meeting you.

By the way, Mom took a picture of me giving your mom my famous kissies. Eat your heart out, Harley McGuire.

    Love,
    Inoch

  8. Oh, Inoch, Mommy couldn’t wait to get home to tell me all about meeting you.

When I so needed advice about getting my nails trimmed and ears cleaned, the comments from you were among the first I ever received. Then you introduced me to the rest of your gang: Sadie, Hudson, and Dominic. That seems like a very long time ago.

You are oh so handsome and Mommy just looks so very happy at having met you how could I possibly be jealous. I’m just really, really anxious for the chance to meet you face to face (or face to tail as the case may be) and I’m totally OK socializing with other doggies, big or little, as long as they don’t snap at me. Mind you, I can hold my own but I’m a peace loving little fellow.

My jaw is doing very well and thank you for asking. It will be a joyous occasion when the weather is a bit cooler and we’ll join you and your beautiful mother for a stroll at the park. See you soon (I hope).

    Lovingly,
    Harley McGuire
