In all cases, the suspect found vehicles unlocked with keys in plain sight. Please take an extra few seconds to remove keys and lock your car every time. Opportunistic crimes like this cannot occur if you do your part.

Sedona AZ (June 25, 2013) – Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies recently completed an extensive investigation that resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old Camp Verde, Arizona, young man for six separate counts of Auto Theft.

On June 22, 2013, at approximately 12:30 AM, YCSO deputies were dispatched to a noise complaint on Verde Valley School Road in the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona. The caller complained of loud music coming from a white pick-up truck in the area which was also seen driving recklessly.

Eventually, a deputy found a white Ford F150 Raptor (pictured) stopped at the Circle K convenience store on State Highway 179 and Bell Rock Boulevard in the Village. The deputy observed two males and two females standing nearby and recalled a recent stolen vehicle report matching the description of the Ford F150 Raptor.

As the deputy approached, the group entered the pick-up and its driver, later identified as Dylon Horne, headed north on SR 179. The deputy followed the vehicle and confirmed with dispatchers the truck was reported stolen.

After entering a U.S. Forest parking area, Horne turned the stolen truck around and drove south back to the Village. The vehicle made a right turn onto Bell Rock Boulevard, then west on Verde Valley School Road. At this time, deputies activated lights and siren, but Horne refused to stop and accelerated away.

The vehicle entered an adjacent neighborhood and ran a stop sign before pulling into a private driveway in the 200 block of Sun Up Ranch Road. The stolen truck received significant damage after crashing into a retaining wall. Both males fled the scene but the two female passengers were found with the truck.

Both women identified Horne of Camp Verde as the driver. An area search for Horne and his male passenger proved unsuccessful.

Just before 7:00 that same morning, YCSO received a stolen vehicle report occurring in an area adjacent to where Horne escaped from YCSO earlier.

At 11:30 in the morning, Horne was located at his home in the 3200 block of Dinky Creek in Camp Verde, Arizona, and arrested.

Further investigation revealed Horne is involved in five additional stolen vehicle incidents.

Horne thefts include a black Honda Accord stolen June 15, 2013, in Rimrock that was recovered June 17; a Chrysler New Yorker stolen and recovered on June 15 in Cottonwood; a Mitsubishi Galant stolen June 15 in Cottonwood that was recovered late evening same day; a Dodge ¾ ton pick-up stolen on June 19 in Cottonwood and recovered the next day with methamphetamine found inside; the 2012 Ford Raptor pick-up stolen out of Sedona and recovered following the pursuit; and, a 2002 Dodge Dakota pick-up truck stolen by Horne after fleeing from deputies on June 22. The Dodge Dakota was recovered the same day as well.

Horne told deputies he stole all the vehicles because he likes to joyride and impress girls.

Horne was booked at the Prescott Juvenile Detention Center on charges including six counts of Theft of Means of Transportation, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Fleeing Law Enforcement, and two counts of Criminal Damage.

The investigation is ongoing and will likely identify additional suspects.

  1. YCSO officers are to be commended for such a quick response! Having a substation in the VOC is really paying off. THANK YOU!

  2. these punks and 2 loser females need to be charged all four knew they were doing something wrong go book em Dano

where were the parents? these losers were out past midnight and up to no good.

charge every parent with neglect and make them plus their loser kids pay for the car damages and do community work.

what kind of parent doesnt know their kid stole six cars and is using meth?

  3. Eric says:

If parents were responsible I bet you’d see less juvenile crime.

Want to say that I support our sheriff community and want to see accountability from the legal system backing them up.

Bet your bottom dollar this kid gets probation? I agree that the parents and kids should have to perform community work.

They terrorized a community, stole 6 if not more from hard working folks, destroyed property (make all four of them rebuild that retaining wall brick by brick), used hard drugs, involved in drug dealing even if they only buy them (where’d they get the money for drugs or hanging out at the Circle K/did they steal that because they dont seem to have jobs?) and what parents let their kids hang out past midnight in no az where there’s nothing open that late except trouble? Why cant these parents say bring your friends here to the house and keep and eye on them?

    Yes to YCSO!

let’s suggest that in light of the Yarnell fire these “punks” be made to learn how to give back like working with firefighters or working at firehouses sweeping and cleaning toilets or police stations emptying trash and seeing how others give back instead of take take take

my nephews fought fires after high school and while in high school worked on getting emt training after school/wkends/summers & they didn’t go to college & they didn’t become firefighters but like my brother and sister in law said they were less me me me and at 30 and 27 we like them as human beings

how about somebody step up & tell that “punk” joyrider BOY that the CHILDREN/GIRLS he impresses are Ho Hos and Easy Bakes and they’re impressed by knock off purses and tattoos of their names

yep let’s spell their names like it is — LOSERS and WELFARE RECIPIENTS
