I am an avid newspaper reader and read the New York Times, the Arizona Republic, the Flagstaff Daily News, and Sedona.biz pretty much every day. I stopped reading the Sedona Times quite a while ago because of its thoroughgoing biased articles and lack of any real news. I am a staunch Democrat and welcomed an alternative voice, but don’t like reading one-sided opinion pieces and press releases masquerading as news. An editorial can be opinionated, but not the rest of the content. More and more the newspaper reflected the opinions of a very small, very vocal, very reactionary segment of the Sedona community — a segment of the community that is absolutely convinced that it reflects “the will of the people.” That arrogance dominated the Sedona Times, to the detriment of the paper.
I welcome the change in ownership, management, and, I hope, direction. Every community can use a solid, responsible and balanced newspaper. The key, of course, is professional reporting. I look forward to seeing what you do with this valuable community resource.
