In May 2010, the Arizona legislature passed a law (House Bill 2246) that will ultimately legalize the sale of certain small-scale consumer fireworks. However, it is not effective until November 30, 2010, therefore all fireworks are still banned.
Per this new law, Cities and towns will have the ability to continue current prohibitions on the use of all fireworks including consumer fireworks. Therefore, during the current fire season and beyond, all fireworks in and around the Sedona City limits are banned. Use of any fireworks is a class 1 misdemeanor and will subject an offender to penalties of up to six months in jail and/or a $2,500 fine plus surcharges.
