Sedona AZ (June 17, 2013) – On Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. in Sedona City Hall Council Chambers, 102 Roadrunner Drive, west Sedona, a Special Workshop will be held to provide council, staff and the public with smart meter information.
Both APS and a local activist group of residents, Sedona Smart Meter Awareness (SSMA) will give smart meter presentations during this workshop. SSMA has been conducting and sharing smart meter research with the Council and the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) for two years.
The ACC is poised to rule on APS’ fee-driven “opt out” plan for Sedona and Arizona residents seeking to protect personal health, privacy, and security from the deployment of ‘smart’ meters in 2013 or 2014.
In an ongoing effort to inform the council about health, privacy, safety, security and economic concerns, SSMA members have been appearing during the City Council meeting “Public Comment” period since fall of 2012.
SSMA is asking the City Council:
- To take action and intervene on the community’s behalf with the ACC in order to protect us, for a no fee community wide opt out.
