There are many benefits of this effort by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and the inmates that perform these tasks.

If these tasks and efforts are performed routinely throughout the year and anti-litter messages are taught in our schools then a “real” change in our culture will be noticed and Arizona could champion this effort nationally in the form of economic development.

The efforts ADOT and the ADOT Adopt-A-Highway program are critical to changing the habits of those that continue to trash Arizona Highways. ADOT must mow the highway shoulders and medians and inspire their Adopt-A-Highway groups. ADOT must either clean the highway medians or allow the Adopt-A-Highway groups to do it.

It’s too bad that more people don’t see and respond to this effort that benefits all residents of Arizona.
