There was NOTHING wrong with 179 before they “Improved” it. It’s horrible, but the scenery remains remarkable.

There’s NO STOPPING, no tree decorating, curbed, no sidewalks, stupid round abouts that no tourist understands, and then you get 4 lanes in the Village.

I went to the meetings and was SHUT DOWN every time I tried to open my mouth to voice my opinion and complaints.

The 179 is ALL about traffic control. It’s horrendous and poorly designed.

I couldn’t agree with you more.

To those of us who pushed for the two lanes shouldn’t bit-h about traffic. I remember ADOT saying that they foresee an increase in traffic and pushed for that horrible 4 lane proposal, I still didn’t care. I’m retired and I’m not in a rush all that often so I’d rather sit in a bit of traffic once in a while as opposed to having to look at a 4 lane highway.

and to “VOC says NO THANKS” What grant money are you speaking about? Where did you see any discussion about grant money! Go stir some other pot or better yet go to the boards about the NM.

We got what we asked for and I”M VERY HAPPY

If anyone thinks that this city or the county for that matter will spend the money it would take to condemn property and build any type of alternative roadway then I have a bridge to sell you (pun intended)

Apparently @VOC SAYS NO THANKS you didn’t attend the numerous ADOT public meetings (were they called sharettes(?) anyone?) which actually allowed public participants to design 179 and what you see is the result. ADOT made it very clear they would have the final say on engineering for safety. Therefore, you don’t know what you’re talking about unless you were among those whining then and continuing because you wanted the 4-lane option like I-17. Oh what fun would that be at the “Y” intersection!

As difficult as everyone is in this area and as poorly as the ADOT workers on 179 were treated by most drivers, I’m surprised they will even deal with us anymore.

If you are unable to enjoy the designated scenic route and prefer speedways, why not move down to the valley or elsewhere?

The VOC already said no so , now we are on the map. The plans are in place, lots of grant money of you follow the plan, who cares if no one uses it or it further clogs up the road, It gives ADOT job security.
Why not instead focus on the weekly accidents on the poorly designed rte 179 where cars and bikes are flying off the road at the dangerous curves and post warning signs.
Boondoggles.

What input are they willing to accept? Lots of these meetings aren’t for us but to meet some fake “we asked” because it’s presented like “here’s what’s going to go down and thank you for being receptive” even when you’re not, it seems like a body in the audience gives them powers….
