Thanks, Gary, for letting us know our Sedona Police Chief, Ray Cota, checks out Sedona Eye.

Some members of the Sedona City Council have told me they do NOT read Sedona Eye which, of course, is their choice. However, it reminds me of a local TV channel program called "Backfire" that aired about 15 years ago. It was amazing even back then how many people claimed they didn't watch the show and yet for some reason the subject matter was widely distributed. Another demonstration of the effectiveness of "word of mouth" advertising?

Speaking of advertising, and since the well financed renewal with the city's contract with the regional Chamber of Commerce has been announced, have you approached that special, member-driven organization with your proposals? Without their blessing it's doubtful your projects will ever see daylight from the dungeon portion of City Hall. That's where City Council would most likely prefer to send most of the people that comment on Sedona Eye, but then they don't read it so how would they know what goes on here?

In the meantime, let us be grateful that Chief Cota took time to respond to you and actually cares about people beyond the confines of the sanctioned city-financed "Chamber Visitors Center." What a farce.

Sedona Chief of Police responds,

I had the pleasure of speaking with the Sedona Police Chief Ray Cota today on the topic of this twine, road hazards and various other topics.

Chief Cota has been out of the office for a few days and is going to look into the twine found stretched between Upper and Lower Redrock Loop even though it will be difficult to determine who is responsible for it being on the highway.

We both agreed that this could have resulted in a sad ending for someone on a bike or motorcycle.

The Chief was very interested in our efforts to keep our highway clean and free from road hazards and I found him to be a very genuine person.

I mentioned that I have spoken to the Sedona Mayor Sandy Moriarty about the anti-litter "Draft Proclamation" developed by Camp Verde Mayor Charlie German to recognize the Adopt-A-Highway groups for their efforts, he seemed to think this was a good idea but offered no opinion.

The Chief did mention that he is a reader of the SedonaEyE.com and I ask if I could mention that in my posting and he said yes.

PS
The originator of the this "Draft Proclamation" (Camp Verde Mayor Charlie German) to recognize our area Adopt-A-Highway groups has been recognized by the Mayors of Dewey-Humboldt, Prescott and Prescott Valley as something they will give serious consideration.

Hopefully the Mayors of Jerome, Clarkdale, Cottonwood, Sedona and the remainder of Yavapai County Mayor's will see the value in saying "Thank you" to these groups?
