The Green Room at 15 N. Agassiz in Flagstaff has landed a stunning bill for Friday November 11, 2011 that includes two award-winning Arizona bands. The first act to take the stage is indie pop favorite, Dutch Holly of Prescott.

In April 2011, Dutch Holly took home the first-annual Buckey Award for Outstanding Musical Artist. Since then, their meteoric rise to prominence has landed them on stages at the Arizona Best Fest in Prescott, the Arizona State Fair in Phoenix, and on radio stations around the state including KJACK in Flagstaff. Dutch Holly has an alternative/indie sound centered on the inventive harmonies of husband/wife songwriting duo, Jen Juniper (vocals) and Tres Ike (guitar, keys, vocals). The inclusion of unusual instrumentation such as violin and trombone adds a fun, eclectic flavor.

Headlining the bill that Friday is Phoenix’s retro-rootsy Americana combo, The Sugar Thieves, who have garnered multiple awards and nominations. In 2008 and 2009, The Sugar Thieves won the Phoenix Blues Society’s AZ Blues Showdown and were voted best blues band in the state. They were voted Phoenix New Times 2009 Best Americana Band and took the People’s Choice Award at the Old Daisy Theatre at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN in 2010. The band is anchored by songwriting duo Mikel Lander (guitar, vocals) and Meredith Moore (vocals). The Sugar Thieves have a sultry blues roots foundation, and put on a high-energy show that keeps the audience on their feet.
