AZ Department of Health Services announced a second person had died from COVID-19. The man was a Maricopa County resident in his 70s who had an underlying health condition. ADHS announced 48 additional COVID-19 cases on Sunday bringing total to 152 not including some of the Arizona Navajo Nation. Remember the number will go up daily so don’t get tied up in the rising numbers. It’s been expected. Do your part and stay home. VRBO and Airbnb has notified its renters that deposits will be returned in full. Landlords, close your rentals now.

The ADHS also identified 48 additional COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the state ADHS total to 152. That number does not include some additional cases in Arizona announced by the Navajo Nation late last night, but it’s unclear how many of the Navajo’s cases are not included in March 22 ADHS count (a press release from the Nation stated there are four cases in Chinle Service Unit, which is in Apache County, but the ADHS website reports only three cases).

California, Illinois, New York and New Jersey were already under stay at home orders over the weekend. Ohio, Louisiana and Connecticut will join them on Monday.

The orders encourage social distancing measures but make exceptions for people to leave their homes for things like buying food, picking up medicine and going to work for essential jobs. Some encourage being outside and active — as long as it isn’t done in groups.

Breaking the order could result in a fine in New York and Connecticut.

“These are not helpful hints. … There will be a civil fine and mandatory closure for any business that is not in compliance” starting Sunday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.
