We have affordable housing it is called Cottonwood, Cornville, Page Springs, Clarkdale, Camp Verde and a few trailer parks scattered around Sedona. There, problem solved and one less committee! I know people who live around Andante and their mortgage is $450 a month, how much cheaper can you get? That whole area is affordable, there are also apartments in uptown.

Eddie Maddock is right. We do not need more parks! Sedona is surrounded by park land; we only need to take care of what we have.

We certainly do not need another free walking attraction for people to come do on a day trip while they get their ice cream cone in uptown. We do not need more people walking to get to the creek further congesting traffic headed up and down Oak Creek Canyon. We have a pedestrian problem causing a traffic problem in uptown. Sucking in hundreds of additional cars per day to go to a "creek walk" is a BAD idea. You want another Slide Rock State Park inside Sedona? We don't.

IMO it isn't only the Housing Commission that's a non-issue group. The current method of operation within the city seems to have become forming commissions or committees who will best represent the agendas of our elected officials.

The high profile example of the moment is the group identified as being charged with crafting the revision of the Sedona Community Plan. Thumbing their noses at facts like historic flooding along Oak Creek, instead of discouraging those with visions and dreams of a lovely meandering walkway, and in many instances invasive to privately owned properties, the ill-conceived idea has escalated to a point where in the very near future millions of dollars will be pledged to this utter nonsense at the ultimate expense of legitimate Sedona residents.

The idea that 5, 6, or 7 individuals possibly identified as experts aka wanna-be celebrities will give of their questionably valuable time to appease what appears to be end results to suit those who appointed them now borders on the ridiculous.

As another example, what credibility exists to the recently proposed nonsense of purchasing the property at the "Y" which formerly housed Sedona Chevron prior to the temporary take-over by ADOT during the upgrades to SR179 for (sit down for this one) another "pocket park?"

Are these foolish folks unaware that this duel State Route intersection is already presently a hazard with two roundabouts, the entrance to the main Post Office, traffic attempting to merge from Brewer Road, Burger King, and the existing gas station? Do they not get it that Sedona, in itself, sits right smack in the middle of a National Forest?

To think that recommendations of these small groups is representative of the majority of Sedona residents is ludicrous. But so what? Even when public opinion screams out against an issue, it is ignored in favor of the perceived well rehearsed projections from these small groups of individuals.

Moral of story: Voting Residents of Sedona, be damned!

This is a no-issue group that somehow continues year after year for no apparent reason, other than those heading the group have some fantasy about Sedona really being an urban environment. Time to get real and address real problems - like safety crossings for 89A, etc.
