It isn't just you "Is it just me or?" that finds the Chamber fortified with public funds (never enough according to Jennifer Weaselhof frequent pleas) out of whack. But then what can you expect from this egotistical group who actually believe that without "them" (city and C of C) Sedona wouldn't be on the map.

What they fail to realize is that their ongoing destructive practices are making a laughing stock of this place. Over and over I'm hearing about how Sedona "used to be" and that's from friends who no longer choose to visit here. Even more damaging is that their copy-cat approach of the big guns down in Phoenix plays right into the hands of those down in the valley who don't really like Sedona anyway. Fools they are but isn't it abused city businesses and residents that will continue to pay the price for bad, bad decisions?

It seems strange to me that rather than create imaginative events that can be enhanced by our natural surroundings, or history large amounts of money are spent on trying to do things that are not at all compatible with what we have already. It's well past time for the city and the CofC to break out of the box. Sedona's popularity is in part due to its being different. IMO, it is this is that needs to be emphasized.

And the price tag for this bright idea was $13,000 for one week? Return on investment? ha, ha, ha. Free skating on plastic "ice". It was reported that Diamond Resorts kicked in $2,500. No wonder they dropped Festival of Lights at Los Abrigados. Well all you fools sitting in city-created flood planes, this is another example of how little our government cares about really important matters.

The City of Sedona is working with Sedona Recycles and the U. S. Forest Service in offering an environment-friendly way of recycling your Christmas tree.

From Thursday, December 26, 2013 through Sunday, January 26, 2014, the City will be accepting Christmas trees for recycling. Trees can be dropped off in the lot at the corner of Saddlerock Circle and State Route 89A. No yard debris please.

Please remove all stands, ornaments, nails, lights and tinsel from the trees. On January 27, the trees will be given to the US Forest Service to be used as erosion control in the national forest.

This program is listed on the SedonaEye.com Calendar of Events.

How very exciting - and what a pretty holiday picture (Motherhood and apple pie?) -as well impressive that we will have a few nights of ice skating in Sedona on the iced over field and all for free! And then we can enjoy a free stroll through tinsel town at Posse Grounds Park - breakfast with Santa, or sit on his lap and whisper our wants and much more events - and all for free! .....all for the first time as this is no Annual event here...it is an expensive try to get something off the ground.

..... sounds like Sedona is in the run for the best Christmas events ever - until you realize that Diamond Resorts has stopped their traditional light decoration event and threw $20k to the City as a token for taking away a Major Event that has assisted all our local business's for a few decades.

Think how exciting it would have been if our illustrious Chamber had thought of all this fun stull years ago to add to the Lights at Diamond Resorts....which just might have made a difference.

All the above started my old brain to think and start to remember the "Stay-cation" (i.e.: Stay At Home Vacation) concept that Phoenix area Lodging group and all their local Chambers have heavily promoted for years - WOW - what a concept!

In listening to the Phoenix news what I learned was we all need to go to Phoenix and remember that we should go to "Glendale Glitters" grand event on one night, where the entire downtown of Glendale ramps up to receive thousands of happy folks per night.

(Guess we need to get a hotel room someplace) On our second night we can go to "Zoo Lights" that has 4,000,000 lights.

Isn't that sounding like fun? ............or you can ice skate in Sedona and etc...the level of no adventure in Sedona sounds loopy to me.

I'm not adverse to City spending money enhancing our little town - just as long as they Start with Drainage and continue with Health, Safety and Welfare issues as their primary goals.

Oh, and how much is this local Sedona Holiday Extravaganza gonna cost US? (Us = the City and all the money they throw at the Chamber etc. which translates to the Council wanting property taxes, special district taxes etc., for all their Christmas wish list wants....Oh, Please!)

Merry Christmas to All and when does Santa give us the gift of getting our City Council and Staff giving or getting back to our City taking care of our basics?
